Westbourne Community Champions
The Westbourne Community Champions project launched in 2015. Over the past two years an active group of volunteers has been working hard to spread important messages and promote local services that can make a big difference to people’s health and quality of life.
The team is currently looking for new Community Champions to join our team to support some exciting new activities as well as our existing ones. We are also recruiting for Maternity Champions to support our activities for expectant and new parents.
We are based at the Stowe Centre – if you are interested in joining us or finding out more, or if you would like Community Champions to have a stall at your event, why not pop in and have a chat to the Westbourne Project Leader, Mariam Hassan, email her at firstname.lastname@example.org or give her a call on 0207 266 8251 or 07518 841313.
Our regular activities include:
Tuesdays, 10-12 – Warwick Hall
The champions support a fun, free, musical drop in for under 5s and their parents run by our partner Creative Futures. We welcome parents, provide informal support and information on local services that might be useful.
Women only Bollyfit Class and Women’s Group
Thursdays 10 – 12:30 – The Stowe Centre
Every Thursday we host a women only Bollyfit Class delivered by Nak Shatra dance group. Its fun, great exercise and suitable for all abilities.
After the class we move upstairs for our Women’s Group – a chance for local women to meet, get to know each other and learn together about health topics and services that can make a big difference to their lives and the lives of those around them.
Feel Good Friday
Fridays 13:00 – 15:00 – The Stowe Centre
These sessions are a chance to meet people from the local area, play games, pool, knit, just have a chat or do anything that makes you feel good! We have information about local services and sometimes invite along guest speakers. Why not come along and see for yourself?
