Edward Wilson Talk at St Mary Magdalene Church

Edward WilsonDr Edward Wilson was a talented artist and naturalist who went on both of Capt Scott’s expeditions to Antarctica as Chief Scientist.  He was a member of the party which reached the Pole in 1912 before perishing in the tent with Scott on the return journey. He was briefly a parishioner of St Mary Magdalene Church, and the nearby primary school is named after him.

which has recently been awarded a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.  This is for an innovative project which will stabilize and restore the very distinguished fabric of the church and create an adjacent building with all the facilities to better serve the local community and people of all faiths or none.  This event is one of several put on by local volunteers to raise funds.  For more information please visit the website: marymags.org.uk
