Comfort and Courage

An uplifting season of live music, poetry and talks!

Comfort and Courage

Live streamed performances from
the 3 March – 8 April 2021

Bringing the stage to the comfort of your living room, Comfort and Courage is a season of music, poetry and discussion performed live from the neo-gothic St Mary Magdalene’s church – and live streamed for online audiences.

As the pandemic shines a spotlight on injustices and the effect on our mental health, in Comfort and Courage, artists and political voices explore how they balance emotional well-being with creative expression, and share what gives them comfort, and the courage to speak out.

With 21 eclectic events over 25 days, highlights include: a live stream of Emmy the Great performing a highly anticipated all-requests show; an exclusive premiere of  a must-see solo performance by Talvin Singh; a collection of music and stories created especially for Comfort and Courage by leading pianist Kit Downes; plus stars of the spoken word scene – Vanessa Kisuule, Dizraeli, KOG and Cecilia  Knapp – converge on our stage.

Comfort and Courage is an uplifting season of music, poetry, comedy and discussion, set in the magnificent surroundings of the Grade 1 listed Grand Junction at St Mary Magdalene’s church.
