In 1929, former Prime Minister David Lloyd George made a pledge to the nation: “We can conquer unemployment. We mobilised for war. Let us mobilise for prosperity.”

In 2016, it is time we made a new pledge – we can conquer poverty.

Poverty in the UK is real, costly and harmful, affecting millions of people. We can do something about it if we choose to. JRF’s comprehensive, long-term strategy shows how governments, businesses, communities and citizens can all mobilise for a sustainable prosperity; for a UK free from poverty.

Paddington People Magazine

Publications-COVER-padpeople_webThe 10th Anniversary edition of Paddington People this winter will be the last in this popular series. It marks the end of a print run that has seen over 700,000 copies delivered free to residents across Paddington. The magazine was seen by partners as an effective way of getting important information to parts of the community who need it most.

PDT is committed to help get information out in a way that residents want. We will continue to arrange updates of the community noticeboards we have installed across the area; along side our neighbourhood blog sites allowing residents with computer access to stay in touch and informed.

That was Then, This is Now

Community Action in North Paddington 1975-2008 – by Philip Wolmuth. The book charts how collective action by the area’s residents has helped transform an impoverished corner of the City of Westminster, one of the wealthiest boroughs in the country, and how the nature of community action has been shaped by the changing political environment over the last 40 years. You can see the whole book on blurb.co.uk (and purchase if you wish): http://www.blurb.co.uk/books/654333-that-was-then-this-is-now
